House, Senate investigators seek Trump tapes, Comey memos

The White House also denied the Guardian report, with an administration official telling Reuters: "The subject never came up on the call".

So she says in a letter to the committee's chairman, GOP Sen.

"140 Characters or Less" - If the TV broadcast of the Comey testimony was the "air war", then the social media response is the "ground war".

Almost 20 million U.S. television viewers tuned in to the explosive televised testimony. Singer Lorde tweeted: "Only in 2017 would one be launching a tour and watching Comey testify at the same time".

Congressional investigators have spent close to six months now, digging into possible ties between the campaign of President Donald Trump and the Russian government, and a handful of key figures have captured their attention.

Comey was pilloried for his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, yet is now seen as a critical cog in the inquiry into possible connections between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

Comey said he had hoped releasing the information via the media would prompt the appointment of a special counsel to handle the Russian Federation probe, a ploy that ultimately proved successful. And she says the president should voluntarily hand them over to the Senate Intelligence committee and the special counsel.

Some of Trump's supporters are trying to defend his loose style, including the way that he spoke to Comey as "Trump being Trump".

Then, in a closed session, Comey told them the Federal Bureau of Investigation believes Sessions had a third, undisclosed meeting with - something CNN reported last week that Hill investigators have been intensely probing. He said that the Trump team "told lies" when explaining why the President fired him.

Comey "leaking his own memos to manipulate the system is exactly why people dislike the swamp", said Trump ally Newt Gingrich.

He further denied ever asking Comey for his "loyalty", contradicting Comey's detailed sworn testimony about a private dinner the two men had in the White House.

The revelation that Sessions met with Kislyak twice during the campaign - and possibly a third time - led Democratic Sens. Tom Cotton asked Comey if he would encourage Richman and the Department of Justice to share the memos: "Sure". "But you will be rich beyond belief if you look at it from (the public service) vantage point", he has said.

The committee has issued subpoenas for "testimony, personal documents, and business records" to both Flynn and Michael Cohen, one of Trump's personal attorneys.

Sessions has been dogged by questions about possible additional encounters with the ambassador.

And on Friday, the committee sent a letter to Comey requesting any notes or memoranda "memorializing discussions Comey had with President Trump". The committee is seeking the materials by June 23.

We do, too. That may be the only way to resolve this historic he-said, he-said. And based on Mueller's reputation for keeping developments out of the headlines, we don't expect to anytime soon. There's no, 'Hey, I'm hoping.' You and I are friends: "'Hey, I hope this happens, but you've got to do your job, '" Trump Jr. told Jeanine Pirro.

Celebrated criminal defense lawyer Alan Dershowitz has argued in a lengthy Twitter commentary that Trump was at worst guilty of "political sins"; he said there is "no plausible case" for obstruction charges.

Under oath Thursday, Comey repeatedly called Trump a liar - Trump responded Friday by saying Comey was a liar.

Mr Lankford said Mr Sessions's testimony on Tuesday will help flesh out the truth of Mr Comey's allegations, including Mr Sessions's presence at the White House in February when Mr Trump asked to speak to Mr Comey alone. The most significant example of this was his decision to fire Comey. "The thing is, this was just another log on the fire, because America is going to continue to push forward on this".

Chyrons on Fox, where Trump fans dominate the audience, often emphasized news favorable to the president.
