Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon believes President Donald Trump's slow rollback of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty program could make Republicans lose control of the House of Representatives.
In an email on Friday, September 8th, the F&M Diplomatic Congress emailed a statement to the community: "The Diplomatic Congress fully supports those in the F&M community who have benefited from DACA; DACA has enabled F&M to recruit numerous talented students we have, and remain committed to the school's mission to attract students with diverse talents and backgrounds".
All 10 campuses in the UC system will also expand counseling and legal services this fall, especially to students whose DACA eligibility is due to expire.
The fact that the U.S.is a nation of laws is often used to disregard DACA immigrants but it's nonsensical to argue a child brought by his parents disregarded law and order. We need to tell them that we will remember their vote when we have our vote on Election Day.
These Americans came here, on average, when they were six years old. "Then recently when the news came out about DACA coming to an end it made me anxious because I, myself, and my brother, we are DACA recipients". Families would be torn apart; jobs would be lost; academic careers would be interrupted; communities would be made less safe. America is the land of opportunities where we can dream and be hopeful.
Frequently as an English language development - more commonly known as ESL - teacher, I mention to my students that everything they learn, including English, will be passed on to their children. From community colleges to some of the country's most selective institutions, higher ed leaders were defiant. But when you consider the impact that repeal would have on our economy, it's also reckless.
He along with almost 800,000 people still don't know where they stand now that the Trump Administration has chose to end the DACA. They are not taking our benefits: DACA recipients can not receive Medicaid, food stamps, and other federal benefits. It contends that the President is violating the rights of students and those of the UC by ending this program. Avoiding turmoil in health-insurance markets is worth flouting the law; avoiding turmoil in the lives of illegal immigrants - even a highly sympathetic subset of them - isn't.
They are our neighbors, our classmates, our co-workers.
We also know what it feels like to be in the shadows.
Several thousand people marched through San Francisco on September 5 for immigrant rights. This country has given us incredible opportunities, and we are so proud of what we've been able to build.
