Fans can watch all this go down at the WWE No Mercy 2017 via the WWE Network (subscription needed but new subscribers can avail of the first month for free). And I suppose they could still do that by having Reigns disrespect Cena on Raw tonight, but the post match scene felt like the respect was mutual so that doesn't appear to be the plan. As the dust settled Sunday night, one thing became clear: While these matches seemed like they belonged on Wrestlemania, the winners are likely on a path to tangle in New Orleans.
As expected, Lesnar has been an unstoppable WWE Universal Champion, but he hasn't been able to overcome the Monster of a Man known as Braun Strowman. Amore would go on to win every match he competed in since then, but most of it was due to cheating.
Highlights: "The Drifter" berated the LA audience with one of his lil' acoustic ditties before the match started. Samson finishes Crews off with Drift Away and after picking up the pinfall, he stomps on Crews for good measure.
Roman Reigns was also out to show he's the best in the business as he took on John Cena in a match you would expect to see on the card at Wrestlemania. Cena questioned Reigns toughness and preparedness to carry a company like Cena has. Fans can tune in an hour early for the kickoff show, in which Elias and Apollo Crews will brawl it out to hype up the event. Jordan kicked himself into a higher gear when he ran to the outside and catapulted Bo Dallas into Curtis Axel and the champ himself. This rivalry has been lackluster and a win by Balor would give it a much-needed end. Cena takes a second to thank everyone in the WWE Universe.
Even though Balor got attacked before the match, he manages to withstand Wyatt's assault throughout the match.
When Cesaro came down, he was spewing blood from his mouth after taking the turnbuckle right to his face.
Cena put Reigns in the AA position, but Roman countered and speared Cena through a table. Either way, it was nice to see a Los Angeles crowd that has been tough on Cena over the years show him respect after the match. Cena drilled Roman with two Attitude Adjustments, but it wasn't enough. But then Ambrose moved and Cesaro was kicked by Sheamus accidentally. And of course, going back to some hall of famers, Sting performed with a gimmick based on The Crow for decades, and Hulk Hogan took his character name from the rage-filled hero.
So, six months is a lot of time to fill for Reigns, who is clearly the WWE's No 1 guy, even if he is not holding the title. Bliss though managed to find a way to get on top and with a quick DDT on Bayley, got the pinfall victory to retain her title. Jordan got The Miz back into the ring and locked on a Crossface for several grueling moments until The Miz broke the hold by grabbing the bottom rope. Neville locks pissed. Enzo brings the title into the ring.
Results: Enzo annoyed Neville by stealing his title belt.
