The search giant has been releasing several bits and bytes about the launch since last month. We will be covering it live, here and on the ground in San Francisco so keep an eye on Ausdroid for all the latest from San Francisco.
However, the devices have been leaked in more than a few instances.
Google sees Assistant as the future, and wants it to become the central hub of users' homes. Here's a detailed look at what we can expect from Google's event tonight. There have been leaks about a possible new Pixel tablet or the Pixelbook as it's being called on the interweb, and while there hasn't been much detailed about this possible product, an electronics re-seller Synnex has provided a little more information about the Pixelbook. Google's bigger phone has an edge-to-edge screen like the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8, as well as dual stereo front-facing speakers. There's another speaker grille at the bottom bezel. There will be a combination of glass and metal body at the rear panel. It has 8 megapixels front camera with f/2.4 aperture. It does specify the Pixel 2, though.
Under the hood, the two phones will come with similar internals, with the top-of-the-line Qualcomm 835 Snapdragon and not a tweaked Snapdragon 836, firing up both the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL. The smartphone will possibly be fueled by a 2,700mAh battery. "It is said to be manufactured by LG and will feature minimal bezels with a 5.99" 18:9 display like the LG V30 and LG G6. Color options for the Pixel 2 is expected to be Just Black, Clearly White, and Kinda Blue. It will also come in two storage sizes, 64GB and 128GB, with pricing from $649 to $749. The larger and meaner Pixel 2 XL on the other hand is expected to hit retail shelves in November 15 for a starting price of $849, which roughly translates to Rs 55,500. It's being speculated that the new Pixelbook might feature the same screen resolution and the same aspect ratio despite the smaller screen size. Even though the side bezels do not appear very slim, they seem to be thinner than the bezels of the predecessor phone. The handset will be more powerful than the Pixel 2 but will share a similar design.
Google Pixel 2 XL will come out with a price tag of $869 for the 64GB variant and a price tag of $969 for the 128GB variant.
The Pixel 2 XL's raison d'être is in the name. So far there has been no specific mention about wireless charging.
Google Pixel 2, as it is being tipped by several websites, will be the successor to the last year's Pixel.
