Ahead of Kavanaugh Hearing, Ginsburg Praises ‘Women Coming Together'

- The US Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled for Friday a preliminary vote on the nomination of Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh, who is under fire over claims of sexual assault in his youth.

Christine Blasey Ford says in prepared testimony to a Senate committee that she believes Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh tried to rape her at a party when they were teenagers.

"

"I am no one's pawn."

". She criticized Republicans who have rejected Democratic demands to slow Kavanaugh's confirmation process and let the FBI investigate all the allegations, saying, "What I don't understand is the rush to judgment". When she went upstairs to use the restroom, Kavanaugh and Judge pushed her into a bedroom and locked the door.

"I feel for her because I know how terrifying this is and how nervous she's been and how it has impacted her life".

Ford said he was intoxicated at the time and he covered her mouth with his hand when she tried to scream.

"I can always be convinced", Mr Trump said yesterday.

Most importantly for her case, though, Ford came across as a normal, authentic person thrust into an unreal situation.

The one woman who will have been in Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's shoes as she testifies on Thursday said that the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, as it is now organized, "cannot be fair and thorough".

Trump described Kavanaugh as a "gem" who had been unfairly maligned.

Ford began her testimony by describing the anxiety accompanying her appearance before the committee.

Judge Kavanaugh has yet to respond formally to this specific allegation. She also accuses Kavanaugh of being a "mean drunk" who made jokes "designed to demean, humiliate and embarrass" girls.

Republican Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the committee, said at the opening of the hearing that he wanted it to be "safe comfortable and dignified for both of our witnesses".

Dr Ford was seated at a table in the packed hearing room flanked by her lawyers, facing a bank of senators.

Democratic senators sought to score political points during their five minutes apiece of questioning Ford. Ford also contacted California Rep. Anna Eshoo. 'Is Brett Kavanaugh who we want in the most prestigious court in the country. Following Ford's public revelations about Kavanaugh, Trump took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the subject. Trump spoke briefly on North Korea and China, but kept walking out of the building when the Kavanaugh question was asked.

The US Senate's top Democrat Chuck Schumer demanded Wednesday that Republicans "immediately suspend" the confirmation process. Suppose also that both Ford and Kavanaugh give stirring, emotional performances.

A third woman, Deborah Ramirez, claims Kavanaugh exposed himself to her at a drunken party at Yale University.

"Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter, the laughter between the two".

Julie Swetnick said in a statement released by her lawyer that the events took place at parties she attended while a high school student in suburban Maryland.

Kavanaugh released a statement denying the new charges. Her husband, Russell Ford is not there. "And no, I've never done anything like that". Kavanaugh's confirmation would cement conservative control of the high court as Trump moves to shift it and the broader federal judiciary to the right.
